I’m a lifelong athlete who’s bounced between sports, always following new interests as they emerge. For years, I blindly treated training as a playground for building an aesthetic physique without much understanding of the biomechanical systems behind it. Weight training has always been my anchor even while I pursue other sporting competitions. I just add new training sessions to the weekly mix.

Three sporting moments have shaped the way I now view fitness.

  1. The first was a bodybuilding show in 2011, where I learned the value of counting macronutrients and the power of consistency.

  2. The second was a cycling trip through the French Pyrenees, following iconic Tour de France stages—an unforgettable lesson in resilience.

  3. The most recent is my current obsession: Ironman triathlons—the ultimate test of high performance, discipline, grit, and sheer determination.

Somewhere between preparation and competition, I found a deeper appreciation for exercise, not just as a means to chase results but as a lifelong process. I’ve learned when to treat the body gently, and when to push it hard. What matters most now is the daily ritual of movement, the way it grounds me, strengthens me, and gives back in ways I never expected. My first book in 2022, What Should I Eat? Cooking for Kitchen Newbies, was a self-help guide I wrote to improve my own cooking. This new book tells the other half of my fitness story: everything I need to know to keep showing up for the sports I enjoy most. I train now with more purpose and a long-term strategy while still chasing short-term goals each year.

This book is my attempt to bring the focus back to exercise as being the most potent drug for overall health and longevity. It explores physical ability and mental strength to its core, prioritising life-long movement over simply aiming for an aesthetic physique. It’s going to give you the tools to win your day, embracing fitness as a journey more than just results. This book acts as a road map that pulls together key concepts developed from years of practice and research. For those who are now ready to be Built to Last, this is where it begins.
