ABOUT THE AUTHOR

The mainstream conversation around health mostly revolves around diet and weight loss. People often turn to food as the magic fix, chasing temporary and mediocre weight loss goals like it is the missing piece. But have you ever considered that the real issue might be something else? Maybe you’re under-strength, lacking mobility or never really putting your cardiovascular system to the test?

It’s easy to forget that physical activity is arguably the answer to more health deficiencies than most people care to realise. Whatever physical training you can commit to now is banking physical ability later in life.

“With absolute certainty, nothing compares to having high VO2 max, high muscle mass and high muscle strength.” - Dr Peter Attia

“This book captures the essence of what it means to be an everyday athlete. Fitness is about embracing the journey and not just results. The people, places and memories that are formed are worth every second of effort, which over time, doesn’t feel like effort at all.

This is a practical perspective on fitness, drawn from real experience over the long term. I’ve now experienced how priorities shift, and I often wish I had known years ago, what I know now. Built to Last is your one-stop shop for training, shining a light on why our bodies and minds truly need physical movement.

If you’re someone who needs a personal guide to starting or practical tips for lasting results, then Built to Last is your playbook. It is designed for all age groups: young adults building good habits for longevity, adults pushing their limits and older adults who should never stop doing the activities they love.

All change is hard at the beginning, messy in the middle and glorious at the end. Keep showing up, keep pushing yourself and never stop. Use this book as your personal tool kit, returning to the chapters that matter most to you at any moment.” ~

Quick Guide - Top 5 Hacks

These top 5 hacks really deliver results. I’m absolutely certain that these actions will GUARANTEE your success.

Imagine if you did one small thing a day from today, outside of your training, that will contribute to your success. That’s 365 actions versus zero, every year! That’s not something to ignore.

  • Wake up at 5am. Completing an early morning workout means you’re less likely to skip it later. Intense exercise early in the morning has a multi-pronged effect, electrifying your focus and energy for the day ahead. In these quiet early morning moments, exercise is the time you can be most in tune with your body and your thoughts. It’s the secret to morning genius.

  • Block out any doubt that creeps in. Learn training basics from successful coaches or athletes and just follow instructions. Remind yourself that change is gradual.

Do what you have learned immediately after learning it. The best thing you can do is just taking action today. Knowledge means nothing without motion so move.

  • Intentional eating is essential to your success and goes hand in hand with exercise. Why sabotage your efforts?

Calculate your macros and required daily calories and learn to cook simple and repeatable go-to meals. Food preparation is key.

Proper nutrition promotes recovery, provides the right energy and builds bullet proof immunity.

  • Appreciate the hell out of being healthy. Start young and build habits that last. Your future self will thank you for it.

Staying fit on the playing field, in the gym or just at home, absolutely relies on keeping your range of movement pain free. Complimenting your training with proper mobility work is not optional but essential.

  • I’ve saved the best hack for last. Sign up for an event 6-12 months prior. This event should be challenging and even be out of reach right now. For example, an Ironman triathlon, a marathon or a body building competition.

This gives you a bookend, an absolute date by which you need to be ready. Every single day is an opportunity to improve or a day lost. You have to be prepared.

An event is the best tactic for keeping yourself accountable in training over the long term. Time is going to pass anyway, so just chip away at it. I promise, the reward at the end is worth it.
